Return?

Hey folks,

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here. I’m not guaranteeing that I’ll come back and post more regularly, but I felt I needed a medium to share a thought and figured this was my best medium.

Lately life has had a lot of ups and downs. The home front (in Ottawa) has seen a major down but with a major up twist to it… though, I am not entirely comfortable here to post what it is exactly that’s a downer. Those who know already are the only ones that will get to know for the next little while. I’m hoping that the event in question maintains a positive side to it, and we’ll see where it goes, but overall it’s been a downer.

The other major downer is just the sense of loneliness I have around here. It’s not that it’s the fault of any of my friends or communities that are here — they’re all fantastic. I just feel like I am missing something important in my life here. My job is still challenging and still has mostly rewards for me, so I don’t think it’s that. The friends I have here are great people, and I have met new people which are fun. I just feel lonely, and I think it’s mostly because of routine… that I am getting too comfortable with repetition.

Anybody else getting the same feelings or had them? If so, how are you dealing with it? Perhaps some discourse will help push me towards less of this feeling.

I also feel like I need a car. However, my logic tells me I shouldn’t get one because of cost (parking, insurance, etc). This is also troubling. My compromise is to use ZipCar, however the notion of paying for a car I don’t own is also unsettling (much like paying for an apartment rather than paying mortgage)

On the bright side, I bought furniture recently. It should at least change my feeling about my apartment’s vapidity. Some nice stuff from Pottery Barn and Macy’s. Should be arriving soon!

I am also looking to buy a laptop. My current laptop, a tablet, may become a cookbook for the kitchen. Perhaps I’ll start using Kindle for PC and convert this into a permanent fixture in the kitchen (I tend to use it for that).

That’s my life in a nutshell for now. Hope everyone’s doing well!
