“So what else is new?”
Hi again everyone
I finished my last post talking about my mom. First, I’d like to thank everybody that commented on that. It was firstly very nice to see that people actually read my blog when I do post (even after months of abandonment). Secondly, it was nice to feel I may have made other people’s days simply through writing. Perhaps more people did read that post, and to them I extend my offer of gratitude. Being able to tell people about my mom is gratifying, and I’m glad to see other people appreciate it.
Now, I had mentioned at the start of that post that many events had transpired in the past few months. I never got around to writing about those events and thusly I shall share them here.
I’ll try to begin with the bigger changes and work my way down the list. I’ll keep each pretty short and sweet.
- Started a strict powerlifting / weightlifting / strength program at my gym. Went up to 210 pounds (from 180) at the pique of training. Achieved a 400 lb deadlift and a 300 lb back squat, and along the way injured myself numerous ways, the latest being dropping 120 pounds on my back (only bruising and a major case of sore back, no major damage). Stopped as of this week and going back to usual classes (down to ~200, aiming to drop down more). Note: This is a big deal for me. I know it isn’t for most of my readers, but I like that I accomplished this goal, however arbitrary it is.
- Changed projects at work (same team), which has certainly been interesting. A lot of tasks came up all at once despite changing projects, and I still had work from my previous project. I’m frustrated with how I have been performing but it’s starting to get better.
- Took sailing lessons in November (I never mentioned this). Awesome time. Love sailing!
- Going to Gaspe for 2 and a half weeks. Very much looking forward to this as I feel I have deserved a rest from life in Seattle. Looking forward to sailing and just better weather altogether (I’m crossing my fingers!)
- Moving in August. My rent went up to 1850, which is way beyond my comfort zone for rent. Will have to say goodbye to this amazing view.
That’s about it for major news (hopefully not disappointing!) Of course many less than major (though, certainly not minor) events occurred too, but I’d have to think and write about them for an hour or more, which I am entirely unwilling to do.
