Benchmark day: Fran
Before I get going on the subject, meet Fran:
21-15-9 of:
95 lbs thrusters
pull-ups
(so, 21 thrusters, 21 pull-ups, 15 thrusters, 15… you get it I hope)
Now, this is the first time I’ve ever done it completely as prescribed. The last time I did this I did the full weight, but did jumping ring pull-ups (still easier than actual pull-ups), and this took me I think 20 or 21 minutes if I recall correctly.
Today I did it as prescribed. Did it in 10:28. Not bad! But not quite what I was hoping for. I’m aiming for sub-8 — so a minute and 28 seconds off. Definitely need the thrusters to be better.
First, I will rant about one thing: My friend who’s been doing CF since October (I introduced him to it) beat me. He got like, 9:23 or something like that. I have to beat him. HAVE TO. His upper body is stronger though, which is the harder part of the thrusters (IMHO) — I also have to get technique down better, and be far far tighter. Leaned forward too much.
Second, I also think I could have done better had I not done Push Jerks and Max 5 rep back squat the day before. Oh and rope climbs.
Speaking of which, yesterday I did a rope climb for the first time in my life. 12 feet up! Or possibly 10 feet. Not sure. EITHER WAY — I have the technique down, now I just need to work on staying TIGHT!
Going to Vancouver tomorrow likely. Nutrition Seminar! That’s the only reason I am going. Debating whether it’s worth it.
